The Institute traces its inception to the political upheavals of Central and Eastern Europe that began in the late 1980’s. The mission of the Institute is to offer innovative study abroad programs based in Prague to university age students the world over, hence facilitating and allowing for a deeper understanding of the history, art, culture, and politics of Central Europe. This mission is achieved through the cooperation of local scholars throughout Central Europe and the academic oversight of jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, one of Central Europe’s oldest and most respected institutions of higher learning. The University accredits Institute’s programs: Liberal Arts, Jewish Studies, Refugee Studies and Summer Program & Winter Session. This cooperation allows students to receive academic credit for work done at the Institute. All of the programs are based in Prague at the Institute’s unique home, the Czech National Gallery Museum of Modern Art. PARTNERS AND ASSOCIATES
AMERA-UK
African and Middle East Assistance (AMERA) was founded as a UK Charity in January 2003, (Registered Charity No. 1098788), to promote the development of pro bono legal aid for refugees in countries where such services are non-existent and where legal representation might assist them in realizing their rights. The awareness of this need came out of several years of research in Africa and the Mediterranean region that exposed the appalling conditions in which most refugees live and the failure of states to protect them.
